1. PhD by Published Work: Retrospective Route Regulations
These Regulations apply to all PhD by Publication (Retrospective) candidates. They must be read in conjunction with the overarching PhD and MPhil Regulations, which cover the traditional PhD route, as well as the PhD by Creative Practice and the PhD by Publication, except where alternative arrangements are detailed in these Retrospective Route Regulations.

2. PhD by Published Work: Prospective Route Regulations
These Regulations apply to the majority of PhD by Publication candidates. Separate regulations apply for candidates who completed their probationary assessment prior to the end of September 2023 (see below for details). These Prospective Route Regulations must be read in conjunction with the overarching PhD and MPhil Regulations, which cover the traditional PhD route, as well as the PhD by Creative Practice and the PhD by Publication, except where alternative arrangements are detailed in these Prospective Route Regulations.

3. Old PhD by Published Work: Prospective Route Regulations
These Regulations apply to PhD by Publication (Prospective) candidates who completed their Probationary Assessment prior to the end of September 2023. They must be read in conjunction with the overarching PhD and MPhil Regulations (old version), which cover the traditional PhD route, as well as the PhD by Creative Practice and the PhD by Publication, except where alternative arrangements are detailed in these Prospective Route Regulations.

4. PhD and MPhil Regulations
These Regulations apply to the the majority of PhD and MPhil candidates. Separate regulations apply for candidates who completed their probationary assessment prior to the end of September 2023 (see below for details).

6. Professional Doctorate Regulations
These Regulations apply in their entirety for all candidates first matriculating on the Professional Doctorate from September 2023 onwards. They also apply in full for most Professional Doctorate candidates first matriculating prior to September 2023. Individual transitional arrangements, where these apply, have been communicated in detail to candidates.
